This design was proposed at the Uruguayan ID card design contest, organized by the Uruguayan Ministry of Internal Affairs in 2014. With designer Natalia Campos, we aimed to re-interpret the aesthetics of the then-current ID card, by highlighting characteristic national symbols or elements inherent in the Uruguayan culture and selecting a typeface with national identity. The typeface chosen is Rambla Alt, one of the first ones designed in the country, by the Uruguayan designer Martín Sommaruga from Tipotype Foundry.
Our design was awarded a Special Mention, even though the contest was declared void and no prizes were given. However, since 2015 the Uruguayan ID card has displayed some of the elements from our proposal, such as the use of the Rambla Alt typeface, the illustrated sun from the Uruguayan flag, and the wavy lines on the background.

Este diseño fue propuesto en el concurso de diseño de la cédula de identidad uruguaya, organizado por el Ministerio del Interior en 2014. Junto a la diseñadora Natalia Campos, buscamos reinterpretar la estética de la entonces actual cédula de identidad destacando símbolos nacionales característicos o elementos inherentes a la cultura uruguaya y eligiendo un tipo de letra con identidad nacional. El tipo de letra elegido fue Rambla Alt, uno de los primeros diseñados en el país, por el diseñador uruguayo Martín Sommaruga de Tipotype Foundry.
Nuestro diseño fue premiado con Mención Especial, aunque el concurso se declaró desierto y no se otorgaron primer, segundo, ni tercer premio. Sin embargo, desde 2015, figuran elementos de nuestra propuesta en la actual cédula de identidad uruguaya: el uso del tipo de letra Rambla Alt, la ilustración del sol de nuestra bandera en el frente, y las líneas curvas en el reverso.
